About 735,000 Rohingya people live in northern Rakhine, Myanmar and are one of the most persecuted Muslim minorities in the world. Due to structural and institutional racism in the majority-Buddhist country, many Rohingyas have fled to ghettos and refugee camps in neighbouring Bangladesh and to areas along the border to Thailand. More than 100,000 Rohingyas in Myanmar live in camps for internally displaced persons, not allowed by authorities to leave.

In May 2012, sectarian violence broke out in Rakhine State between the Buddhist Rakhine people and the predominately Muslim Rohingya. Around 140,000 people remain displaced in and around Sittwe and Maungdaw by the violence. These people urgently need food, shelter, medicine and protesction. Partnersworld is a NGO that is providing emergency relief to people who live in camps near Sittwe, including rice distribution, basic medical support, tarps for shelter as well as animals, seeds and fertilizer to help establish more sustainable food supply.

Help provide continuing life-saving care to vulnerable children and families by supporting worldpartners with a donation, by joining their network and spreading the topic.
